NATIONAL BIBLICAL EXHIBITION CENTRE   NBEC

To attend the three main festivals at the Temple, pilgrims from Galilee usually avoided Samaria, taking the safer route south via the Jordan Valley and Jericho. Then they made the 17-mile trek up the wadi, climbing around 1,000 metres to reach Jerusalem.

For mutual encouragement the hikers sang the songs of “ascent”, Psalms 120 to 134. These same psalms were also performed during the festivals in the Temple by priests accompanied on their musical instruments.

In this room linking the Galilee and Jerusalem exhibition halls the land of Israel is illustrated, along with the agricultural cycle, the annuals festivals, plus some examples of musical instruments.
